Crossing of Western Avenue, Daventry - there's a longish stretch of alternating one-way road traffic, controlled by lights, in addition to the actual crossing lights.

As usual they were happy to wave cyclists (and pedestrians) through the road 'closure'.

Long Buckby station - no lift or even a wheeling channel.

Warning of pedestrians - presumably walking along the motorway ahead.

The Brampton Valley Way (NCN6) runs alongside the Northampton & Lamport Railway. This location marks the end of current railway operation; NCN 6 on the left shares the railway route South towards Northampton

Rest stop at the North portal after riding through Oxenden Tunnel, on the Brampton Valley Way. NCN6. This tunnel is very dark, no lighting provided!

North end of the very dark and spooky Kelmarsh tunnel, part of the Brampton Valley Way NCN6

Canal towpath here looks attractive for gentle leisure cycling in the Northamptonshire countryside but unfortunately soon reverts back to grass beyond the moorings.

Unhelpful signage for NCN50 in centre of Crick village. The route dog-legs across Main Road but is only signed at one of the junctions . Anyone following this will soon find themselves on the A428 to West Haddon, rather than the correct r ... [more]

National trust bike parking at Canons Ashby - just a pair of wooden poles next to the bins. The poles have with small metal loops presumably for locking to but none of these users had used them.

Cycle Parking at National Trust property Canons Ashby is discretely hidden behind a thick hedge but at least its close to the tea room.

Blind junction where route 50 dog-legs across the A5 on a shared use path to Kilsby Road. Unlike the universally-ignored cyclists dismount on the other side of the road, at this point cyclist really do need to take care.

Chicanes and a dismount sign for the shared use path on the bridge over the M45. This very short section of shared use path alongside the A5 provides a useful dog-leg link between two quiet lanes on route 50. As evidenced by the tyre tr ... [more]
